The key to answering these questions is to measure your resting metabolic rate and accurately calculate your daily physical activities. Resting metabolic rate is the number of calories the body requires to keep us alive or functioning at rest and can account for up to 80% of an individuals daily caloric expenditure. The resting metabolic rate measurement enables participants to discover their unique dietary needs with the highest degree of accuracy.
Briefly, testing involves the participant to be seated or lying in a comfortable position for approximately 10 minutes. After applying a nose clip to close the nostrils the subject will insert the oxygen analyzers entire mouthpiece into their mouth using their lips to form a seal around the mouthpiece to prevent air leaks. The subject will be instructed to breath normally into the mouthpiece for approximately 10 minutes while their RMR is measured.
